Triciapedia Tips: Take A Break

Now that you’ve got yourself setup with a dedicated work space, you need to make sure you create a new routine. When you work in an office, you don’t usually have to think about getting up to take a break, make a call, use the bathroom, etc. If you’re now spending a lot of time on video conferences, you’re missing out on being able to say, “Hey Jen, I’ll be right there” as you walk past her cube. Instead, you’ve got to show up on time. So, schedule your breaks.

  1. Take a break!

    Go outside. Take 3-5 deep breaths or meditate if you have a meditation practice. Heck, go ahead and start a meditation practice! Take your pet or child or spouse or self for a walk and leave your phone at home. Or, if you’re on a conference call, make it a walking one.

  2. Schedule breaks

    Take a minute to re-work your schedule so that you have 15 minutes in between video conferences. This allows you to get up, process information, use the bathroom, etc. etc.

  3. Do. Not. Eat. At. Your. Desk!

    Yup, I know. I do it, too. Fix your lunch and go someplace else to eat it. This helps encourage mindful eating and reduce the temptation to eat all of the things you bought but usually try not to eat…
