Kindness Matters
Last month, I wrote to you about the first lesson I learned when I took Triciapedia full time. I shared the idea that people see you, even when you feel invisible.
This month, I invite you to take that one step further—when you see someone, say something. Of course, this slogan is pretty heavily attached to safety and can even be heard on announcements in the NYC Subway system. I’m borrowing it for a kinder purpose.
A lot of my work happens over email, which we all know is notorious for lacking context cues, tone and can create a lot of misunderstanding. I'm often emailing the client of our client. This usually happens at the important phases of business engagement including contracting, invoicing and payments. Recently, I was exchanging multiple emails with the accounting department of a business, and I found the person I was exchanging those emails with to be wonderfully patient, diligent and kind in their approach to their work.
So, I said so:
“They are really lucky to have such a patient, kind and diligent person on the team at XXX Company. Thank you!”
Reply:
“PS – thank you for your kind words. You really brightened my day.”
We are living in a particularly chaotic and challenging time. I’ve written many a newsletter about the power of kindness, and will continue to do so because it matters, and it makes a difference.
