Change Edition

It’s the heat of midsummer and I’m writing to you from my new Triciapedia rental home office here in Southern California.  Everywhere I look there are boxes, both full and empty.  A move of our physical space is an intense experience–it offers us the opportunity to change our surroundings and experience the emotions of letting go and starting fresh.  It brings us face to face with the “stuff” of life–what do we keep, what no longer serves us.

This month, we’re also wrapping up our work with Yoga Alliance.  Since March, 2020 this work has brought all of us a lot of joy and gratitude.  Everyone at Triciapedia has learned so much from this client, and had so many great experiences from our first global webinar to our first podcast production and more.  Not only have we produced thousands of hours of content, but we’ve come to value the individual relationships forged via Zoom.  And along the way, as many of you know, I fulfilled a long held goal of becoming a yoga teacher.  I’ll still be gathering my loyal group of students weekly–please drop me a line if you’re interested in joining.

One more from the transition department–my awesome assistant Ashley is moving on from her company, Squared Away.  Since joining us in February 2022, Ashley has brought her friendly and genuine spirit to her work, a lot of which happens “behind the scenes,” including putting together this newsletter.  She’s found a more permanent work opportunity and we’re all cheering her on, although we will miss her as a member of Team Triciapedia.

There will be more to come on the “change” front, as there always is.  In the meantime, I’ll share a few strategies that have been helping me stay grounded as life swirls around me:

  1. Be flexibly vigilant about your self-care routine.  For me, this has meant prioritizing exercise, rest, and hydration.  Plus, the timeless Mary Poppins wisdom, “whistle while you work” means I’ve been blasting a lot of my favorite tunes while packing, moving stuff, and unpacking.

  2. Acknowledge with gentle honesty your feelings and experiences as they happen.  Appreciate the ones worth keeping and let go of what is not.

  3. Seek and accept help from others.

We all know change is inevitable and it’s also ok to say that it’s hard–we’re wired for routine and laying new wiring takes work.  I hope you’re taking the time to give yourself grace and fun this summer.

With gratitude,

Tricia
