About Triciapedia Edition

This month, I thought I’d take the opportunity to share with you a bit more about what it is we do here at Triciapedia.  Although many of you reading this newsletter know me, and the team, and our work, I often find myself relating stories about our work to my partner or friends and they find them entertaining or enlightening.

We keep the trains on track.

Whether with our business management clients or our event clients, the number one thing that our clients rely upon us for is to “keep the trains on track.”  Sometimes this means holding a client accountable to their goals by scheduling regular meetings to check in on their progress.  Sometimes this means correcting a “derailment” in a meeting, bringing the conversation back to the task at hand.  And just last week, this meant cutting 5 minutes from a program segment after two speakers went *way* over time, in order to keep the overall program on time.

We find a way to get it done.

At an event last week, our stage set featured fresh produce–and a lot of it. Understandably, the client wanted to make sure the produce did not go to waste–we found a way to get the produce from the venue to a local food bank.  Most of the time, the way to get it done is activating our network of awesome vendors, colleagues and friends.

We find the right place.

Right now, we are working with multiple clients on the earliest stages of planning their events–venue searches.  We gather the information, contact potential venues, and organize visits to these venues to help clients get a feel for the space.  We offer our experience with these venues, and begin to think about how the space will support the vision for the event.  And we do the math, too.  From corporate retreats to policy convenings and anniversary celebrations, the venue is one of the most important details of your event.

We remain calm.

As a client recently told me, “...there’s normally a tornado of chaos happening throughout the day to make it look worry-free to the attendees, but I didn’t feel that chaos at all.”  Events can be really stressful.  We remain calm and confident in the work we did to get to this point.

We know our limits.

This is not just about boundaries, or even honesty.  Whenever we can, we try to be helpful.  You need travel planning?  We can do that.  You need a registration team?  We can do that.  You need fundraising?  Sorry, we don’t do that.  But we know folks who do!  From project to project and year to year, we keep an eye on what is fun for us and what is a drag–and when we come to a drag, most of the time we find a collaborator who thrives in that space and work with them instead.

Thanks for tuning in for this month’s edition.  I hope your “official” Summer is off to a good start and you find sparks of joy in simple things like sprinklers, ice pops, and maybe even friendship bracelets.
